Welcome
Monkstown Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic is a chartered physiotherapy practice located in Monkstown village. The practice was established in 2004 and together the physiotherapists have over 35 years clinical experience.
Our aim at the clinic is to assess your injury or condition, provide a diagnosis and help you to return to full functional capacity including returning to work duties and/or sports.
We also offer a home visit service for patients who are unable to travel to the clinic and for patients requiring a home assessment for safety and/or mobility issues.
In addition to this we have recognised qualifications for the delivery of manual handling instruction and can do on-site ergonomic and VDU assessments in your place of work as well as group instruction in safer manual handling and ergonomics in line with current national legal requirements.
What is physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is the treatment of disease or injury using physical means such as mobilisations, stretches, soft tissue work and manipulations.
Therapeutic exercise and advice also form a large part of the treatment enabling the patient to help themselves.
Physiotherapy is heavily reliant on evidence based research. It is a scientific approach which aims to maximise mobility and quality of life using clinical diagnosis and appropriate treatment techniques.
What is a chartered physiotherapist?
A chartered physiotherapist is an allied health professional who holds an approved university degree education. Only members of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists can use the term chartered. The ISCP is the only association in Ireland recognised by the World Confederation of Physical Therapy, ( WCPT ). Evidence of continuing professional development is now mandatory for all ISCP members. By attending a Chartered Physiotherapist your fees will qualify for a refund under all the major health insurance schemes.
